From the Desk of Father Jason - October 11, 2026

Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,

Thank you for your financial giving to the parish this past year. Your generosity has been extraordinary.

We are stewards of God. We share. We serve. We pray.

Stewardship of sharing. Jesus tells us to be “rich in what matters to God” (Luke 12:21). Jesus also tells us to “store up treasures in heaven” (Matthew 7:20). Jesus actually has a lot to say about sharing money.

What should our sharing with the parish look like? I propose the 4 Ps: priority, planned, percentage, and progressive.

Sharing with the parish should be a priority. God asks us to give Him our first fruits. Is sharing with the parish a priority in our budget? For me, sharing with the parish is a line item in my budget and I give each week.

Sharing with the parish should be planned. We have a plan for our sharing. It is not random. An excellent way to do planned sharing is through electronic funds transfer (EFT). Personally, I give using through website using my credit card.

Sharing with the parish should be a percentage. Rather than give a fix amount, God asks us to give Him a percentage of our income. Have you ever figured out what percent of your income you give each year? I share 17% of my gross income to the parish, 1% to the diocese, and 1% to another charity.

Sharing with the parish should be progressive. Parish expenses go up each year, does our sharing? Last year, I gave 16% of my income to the parish. I went up a percentage point this year.

Next weekend, we will have our annual parish meeting on Saturday October 17 at 5:00 pm in the parish social hall. Additionally, our finance council will make a short presentation at the end of each of the Masses next weekend.

Sincerely through Jesus,

Fr. Jason

PS – I would like to encourage you to consider giving using electronic funds transfer. You can do it through our website, sfxdp.org by using the “Give” button.
