From the Desk of Father Jason - October 4, 2026
Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,
We are all meant to be stewards of God through Jesus Christ in His Church.
Stewardship begins with the recognition that God is the source of all things in our lives, even the things that seemingly belong to us: our lives, our time, our talent, and our money. I have life, it is God’s life not mine. I have time, it is God’s time not mine. I have talent, it is God’s talent not mine. I have money, it is God’s money not mine.
This way of thinking requires deep conversion. We hold tightly on to what we think we own. Thankfully, Jesus is in the conversion business. I have not always been a good steward; in reality I still have places I need to grow. As with all good things, we need to call upon the grace of Jesus to be stewards.
We are given all things on loan. Rather than owning them, we are managers and caretakers of all of God’s gifts in our lives. God gives them to us to build the kingdom of God.
Am I using the life, time, talent, and money that God has given me to build up His kingdom?
What does stewardship look like?
There are three major areas where we must make a return to God in the Church. They are sharing, service, and prayer. Sharing means just that; we have material possessions including money that are meant to be shared with others. Service means using our time and our talent to glorify God in our actions. Prayer. Prayer is building up a relationship with the Lord God, becoming friends and follower of Jesus Christ.
Jesus tells us to be “rich in what matters to God” (Luke 12:21). Sharing, service, and prayer are three excellent ways that we “store up treasures in heaven” (Matthew 7:20).
“God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
Sincerely through Jesus,
Fr. Jason
