Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,

The momentum of our church is building. I hope you can feel it. Our new vision statement says that our parish is “to be the living example of Jesus Christ to others.” That is a lofty statement. We will never do it perfectly, but by striving toward it we will find excellence for God in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Joy. Personally, that is the word that characterizes my feeling about being at Saint Francis Xavier. The people I work with on staff and you, the parishioners, have been incredibly good to me. I am thankful.

Good things are happening. We have seen a sustained increase in the number of people coming to Holy Masses on the weekends. More people are coming to the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession. Our Parish Council is really hitting their stride. Our Finance Council has helped to sort out our finances and has put us on a sustainable pathway.

What about the future?

During the month of May, the parish staff had its calendar meeting. We planned the next ministry year. We will be looking at a few things in Discipleship Formation. We will continue to offer adult formation series in order to follow Jesus. We are looking at more ways to be a warm parish that is accessible to young families.

What is our greatest need? Prayer. Prayer. Prayer. Without prayer, we are not the people Jesus wants us to be. First, pray that we as a parish discern where to go. Second, pray that we have the will and resources to go there. Third, pray that we go there with excellence in the name of Jesus Christ. What am I saying? PRAY FOR THE PARISH SINGLE EVERYDAY, PLEASE!!! With prayer we can do all things and really be the living example of Jesus Christ to others.

Sincerely through Jesus,

Fr. Jason
