From the Desk of Father Jason - June 7, 2026
Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,
Thank you! Thank you to everyone who made our parish picnic such a magnificent event. Thank you to those who planned the picnic and oversaw its activities. Thank you to those who volunteered for it. Thank you to all those who made donations to it. Thank you to all of you who came to the picnic. Thank you to those who made purchases of raffle tickets.
In light of this event, I would like to focus on volunteering in the parish. It really amazed me to see how many people it takes for a successful parish picnic. Many people called in many ways all to serve Jesus Christ and His people.
This brings me to the idea of the member-minister. What is a member-minister? It is a member of the parish who does the work of Jesus Christ. Whenever we do something, as part of the parish, such as at the picnic or at the Mass or to the poor, we are doing ministry.
I would venture to guess that more than one hundred people already serve as member-ministers even if you did not know the term this now.
What is my hope? My hope is that every parishioner finds a place where they can serve Jesus Christ as a member-minister.
There are dozens of ways to do it.
One ministry that I wish to start is intercessory prayer for the parish. In its most basic form, a member-minister would commit to praying for the parish each day.
How would it work? Each week, we would publish a section in the bulletin with various needs for the parish. Simply, pray for those needs each day. In doing that, you are fulfilling a ministry of Jesus Christ. You are a member-minister.
More information will be coming soon.
Sincerely through Jesus,
Fr. Jason
