From the Desk of Father Jason - June 14, 2026
Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,
This week all of the active priests of the Diocese of Green Bay will be on retreat in Green Lake. This means that on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Father Getchel will be celebrating our weekday Masses. I will be back on Friday.
Next weekend, our parish is celebrating our first wedding of the summer. The bride is my niece.
This will be the second wedding since COVID times. Right now, the parish has four more couples preparing for marriage.
I love officiating at wedding. While I am not personally called to marriage, I love Christian Marriage. A Christian Marriage is a sign of God’s love to the world. Christian Marriage is not just a gift to the couple, but to their future children, their families, the local church, and the entire world. When a couple gets married a great mystery happens. It takes three to get married: the husband, the wife, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Saint Francis Xavier is ready for marriages. If you are moving in that direction, please consider our parish as the place of your wedding.
One thing that has increased in the Catholic Church in recent years is called a convalidation. What is a convalidation? When a Catholic has gotten married outside of the Catholic Church, whether civilly or in a religious ceremony, there is a rite to make sure that the marriage is Sacramental.
What is required of a convalidation? It really depends on the couple. If a couple that has been together for thirty years requires much less work than one who has been together less than a year. I am willing to work with you wherever you are at.
If a convalidation would be helpful to you, please call me at the office, (920) 336-1813.
Sincerely through Jesus,
Fr. Jason
