Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,

What does it mean to belong to a parish? Membership in a parish is a faith commitment. It is a commitment of the parishioner to the parish. It is also a commitment of the parish to the parishioner. It is a two-way street.

Again, what does it mean to belong to a parish? There is level of registration. Part of serving you better is that we need to know who you are and how to connect with you. Parish registration is an essential tool. If you have been coming to St. Francis Xavier Parish regularly, I ask that you consider registering. Just contact the parish office at (920) 336-1813 and we will be glad to help you.

There are other ways of being a part of a parish. I would like to focus on three words: belonging, believing, and behaving.

Belonging. Ultimately, we decide on the level of engagement we have with the parish. I feel that you belong to the parish, regardless of registration, if you are coming. This is most especially for weekend Mass but might include other functions, like the parish picnic and Bible study. I would like to see people belong as much as possible.

Believing. Believing is more than just thoughts in the mind like “Jesus is Lord” or “I believe in one God.” This is essential, but we are called to go further. Believing at its best means that we stake our life on God. This leads to how we act or behave.

Behaving. Our belief in Jesus Christ is so important that it guides the way we act in life. We pray. We read the Bible. We frequent the Sacraments. I am always growing in how I live out the faith. I am not perfect.

At our parish, we are first called to belong. Then we believe. Finally, we behave.

I am so thankful for you!

Sincerely through Jesus,

Fr. Jason
