From the Desk of Father Jason - February 8, 2026
Dear Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners,
This weekend is the kickoff for Bishop’s Appeal 2026. The title of the campaign is “Be the Light.”
This light reminds me of the two candles that are used during Baptism. The fire of the Easter candle is a reminder that Jesus Christ is our light, no one else. From Jesus is lit the candle of the person being baptized. This represents the fact that our faith comes from Jesus. Ultimately, our light is meant to be kept burning brightly and ignite others.
I have personally benefited from the Bishop’s Appeal and you indirectly through the Shepherd School. Shepherd School is a formation program where priests who are to become pastors receive training in running a parish. I could not believe what I did not know. Shepherd School, funded by the Bishop’s Appeal has made me more skilled as being your shepherd. You will hear more stories in the coming weeks about how the Bishop’s Appeal affects the area and specifically our parish.
Last year, we did not meet our goal for the Bishop’s Appeal. I am sorry about that especially because we have reached it in the past.
This year I am confident that we will reach our Bishop’s Appeal goal. Our goal is $50,104. My sincere hope is that we will achieve that goal by Pentecost, May 24.
If you have given in the past, thank you. I ask that you consider increasing your donation, perhaps even becoming a Crozier member at the $500 level.
If you have not given in the past, this would be a great year to start. In addition to our financial goal, we have a donor goal. Last year, we had 184 donors. Our goal for this year is 193 donors. That is only 9 more families giving this year. I would like every family in the parish to give something.
Sincerely through Jesus,
Fr. Jason
